SUN DAMAGE

Sun-damaged skin is caused by exposure to ultraviolet light from the sun and high intensity light sources now found in some homes and workplaces. The skin may appear thinner, less elastic, pigmented, red, dry, oily, or rough.

Over time, photoaging stimulates a decrease in collagen and elastin, and an increase in melanin. People with lighter skin colour are especially prone to sun damage; however, everyone is at risk. Since most people enjoy spending time outdoors, exposure to some degree of ultraviolet damage is unavoidable.

Diagnosing specific conditions is critical; as an example, sun spots and melasma may look similar but require different care plans. Dr. Ray will thoroughly assess your skin to first and foremost diagnose any potential actinic keratosis, skin cancers, or risks to your health that are visible, and develop a plan of action as required.

Affected areas:
Face, neck, chest, décolleté/décolletage, arms, hands, and body.
