Dr. Martin Ray, MCFP (SEM), CCFP (Sport & Exercise Medicine), Dip. Sport Med (CASEM)

Dr. Ray is a highly respected expert in sports medicine with more than 25 years of experience caring for athletes at all levels. A member of the Canadian Academy of Sport and Exercise Medicine (CASEM), he brings extensive expertise from his sports medicine consulting practice and his roles as a CASEM examiner as well as Physician for the WHL’s Vancouver Giants since 2001 and Physician for Skateboard Canada since 2021.

He also served as Physician at the 2010 Olympic Games (Ice Hockey) and 2020 Olympic Games (Skateboarding), Chief Medical Officer for the 2006 World Junior Hockey Championship and 2007 Memorial Cup, and provided long-time service with the Canadian Alpine Ski Team (1990-present) and Whistler Mountain Ski and Bike Park Patrol (1986–2022).

Dr. Ray was inducted into the Delta Sports Hall of Fame in 2014 for his contributions in the Sports Medicine Builder category and continues to play an active role in advancing athlete health and performance in Canada.

Cortisone

Cortisone injections have been shown to provide relief from pain caused by many musculoskeletal conditions, such as osteoarthritis and tendonitis. The injection is usually into a joint to treat localized inflammation; however, current best practices and evidence supports HA, PRP or PRF injections are more effective.

Hyaluronic Acid (HA)

We offer Cingal, which includes the steroid Monovisc, and SportVisc HA injections. Injections into the injured area release fresh synthetic HA that mimics the substance in your body to help heal your injury and relieve your pain. This is often used to treat pain and swelling in joints such as the knee.

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)

PRP has the ability to heal and even regenerate damaged, lost, or aging tissue. Tendon, ligament, and cartilage injuries are all potential sites for PRP injections. We use the highest quality PRP for the most optimal results.

Custom Bracing

Custom knee bracing can be effective in the treatment of acute MCL and ACL tears and chronic conditions such as osteoarthritis. We exclusively use Breg braces to stabilize acute injuries and unload joints in case of osteoarthritis. The goal is to protect the knee and allow you to return to your activities in a safe and functional way.
