IPL PHOTO-REJUVENATION
Photo-rejuvenation is a popular procedure that uses intense pulsed light (IPL) to correct discoloured or sun-damaged skin.
A broad spectrum of light is emitted into the skin without injuring the skin’s surface; once its target is reached, the light is converted into heat energy. This improves the appearance of rosacea-prone skin and minimizes broken capillaries and brown spots. It also improves overall brightness and stimulates collagen and elastin production, resulting in a more firm, even skin texture.
Treatment Details
Dr. Ray carefully assesses all patients to determine if IPL is the best possible treatment as not all skin types are recommended to have this procedure. View Laser Skin Rejuvenation uses the Cynosure Palomar ICON IPL laser. Each treatment typically takes approximately 20-40 minutes, depending on the treatment area and the patient’s aesthetic goals.
Recovery & Results
Results will become apparent within 1-3 weeks while the skin renews and pigmented areas slowly come to the skin’s surface and shed. Results are visible after only one session, but 4 sessions are typically recommended for maximal correction and longer-lasting benefits. This procedure has virtually no downtime for patients needing mild correction; for those needing more rigorous treatment, 1-5 days of swelling and redness may be experienced. Avoiding activity that will increase the temperature of the skin (such as using a steam room, performing vigorous exercise, exposing the area to the sun unprotected, etc.) is also recommended. Overall skin health should always be maintained with proper home care as directed by Dr. Ray.
