BOTOX® THERAPEUTIC
Botox® is a naturally-occurring purified protein produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum.
Dr. Ray performs a comprehensive medical history and evaluation before determining the best strategy for treatment of your concern. Botox® Therapeutic is commonly used to treat migraine headaches, jaw pain, hyperhidrosis, and a number of other medical conditions. Dr. Ray skillfully injects Botox® with a very fine needle into select muscles in order to provide maximum therapeutic benefit.
Treatment Details
Botox® Therapeutic treatments typically take between 5-10 minutes, depending on the treatment area and the patient’s therapeutic goals.
Recovery & Results
Results are noticeable within 2-3 days with maximum effect at 14 days. Patients can return to normal activities immediately afterwards. Therapeutic results may take weeks or even months. In some situations, repeat treatments may be required for best results. To maintain optimal results, treatment is recommended every 3 months; dose and frequency vary depending on the individual and condition being treated.
Used to treat:
Migraine headaches, temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMJ), teeth grinding, jaw clenching, jaw pain, wry neck, torticollis, whiplash, neck pain, hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating of the underarms, scalp, hands, and/or feet), blepharospasm (abnormal eye twitching/contraction), muscle spasms, muscular spasm contractions, post-concussion syndrome, and Bell’s Palsy.
Botox® Therapeutic is not covered under the provincial health care plan. Private insurance may provide full or partial coverage. We recommend that patients inquire with their insurance about coverage prior to a consultation with Dr. Ray. Forms required to qualify for third-party coverage can be completed by your family doctor. Dr. Ray can complete necessary paperwork at a fee not covered under the medical plan; this fee will vary depending on application complexity. Please contact our office for more information.
