In 1999, when she was about 17 years old, Tara unfortunately experienced a serious car accident. While she was recovering, she was the victim of a second accident, when she was a pedestrian hit by a car at high speed.
"From then on I just experienced a lot of days where I had such unbearable pain, so much fatigue; I had to be in a dark room, no stimulus, blinders on my eyes, the room spinning. I missed a lot of school. Somehow I managed to graduate — mostly from home in bed — but I didn't get a lot of understanding from any of the health practitioners that I saw back then."
Tara was prescribed many medications, including painkillers, that she describes as having horrific side effects.
"Anything that would give me a bit of temporary relief would come with huge consequences," she explains.
After having a less-than-ideal experience seeing a neurologist who administered Therapeutic Botox according to the Health Canada-approved protocol for chronic migraines, Tara still wasn't comfortable. She says she felt "funny-looking," with her eyebrows and forehead looking frozen and feeling heavy.
Watch the short video below to learn more about why the standard migraine protocol didn't quite work for Tara, and about how Dr. Ray developed a treatment plan that provided her the relief she so desperately needed.
Therapeutic Botox for post-concussion headaches, migraines, TMJ and more can be a life-changing treatment for patients and their families. Learn more here.
