A Legacy of Dedication and Service
Recently Diane Harper marked yet another milestone: her well-deserved retirement. As someone who has had an incredible impact on our practice, our community, and countless lives over the past several decades, Diane is well worth celebrating. A resident of Delta since 1987, she is a beloved and integral part of our town and its healthcare landscape.
Diane began her career with Dr. Ray in the late 1980s, joining View Medical Family Practice and later View Laser Skin Rejuvenation as both the office manager and Dr. Ray’s assistant. From the very start, Diane was the cornerstone of the operation, bringing her unmatched professionalism, attention to detail, and impressive dedication to every aspect of the practice. Whether she was preparing detailed reports for patient medical legal cases or assisting physicians in crafting expert witness presentations for the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA), Diane’s work was always exemplary.
Throughout her career, Diane earned the respect of her colleagues and the admiration of patients. She has been more than just a manager — she’s been a leader, a team player, and a compassionate provider of care to our community. Her commitment to excellence in healthcare has been a constant source of inspiration to all who have had the privilege of working with her.
Beyond her professional contributions, Diane’s dedication to the community in her so-called leisure time has been equally remarkable. She has volunteered with the Delta Hospital Auxiliary Society for many years, even serving as the president of the organization. During her presidency, Diane played a crucial role in the successful "Save Delta Hospital" campaign, ensuring the hospital remained a vital resource for the community.
Diane’s commitment didn’t stop there. She provided invaluable administrative support during the early development of the Delta Division of Family Practice, and her contributions were instrumental in its success. She and her husband, Dewar, have also been long-standing volunteers at the airport as "green coat" volunteers, a role they have cherished for around 20 years.
In addition to her many local contributions, Diane played an essential role in the administrative support teams for major events such as the 2008 Memorial Cup, the 2009 World Juniors Tournament, and the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Her ability to manage high-pressure situations with grace and efficiency made her an invaluable asset during these prestigious events.

Despite having previously retired multiple times, Diane has always been quick to return and offer her support whenever needed. Her dedication to her work and her willingness to help out in times of need have made her an indispensable part of our team.
On a personal level, Diane has been a trusted friend and confidante to many, including Dr. Ray and Dr. Fletcher. She was the reliable “call in case of emergency” contact for their children and has always provided countless other forms of support to those around her. A devoted wife to Dewar Harper, former Senior Vice President at HSBC, and a loving mother to Krista and Ian, Diane has balanced her professional and personal lives with grace and dedication. She and Dewar both have high Christian values, and have been active members and supporters of St. Stephen's United Church for many years.
As Dr. Ray reflects on their time together, he shares:
“What do you say? Diane’s been my witness in life. She’s kept me honest. And she’s always supported doing the right thing.”
Diane Harper’s retirement marks the end of an era, but her legacy of dedication, service, and compassion will continue to inspire us all. We wish her all the best in her well-deserved retirement, knowing that her contributions have made a lasting impact on our community and beyond.
